Baccarat Rules

The funny thing about baccarat is that its image is what makes it such a high roller’s game. Usually, the game is set off to the side away from the rest of the casino games and in more cases than not it is roped off. Generally, you will see those playing dressed to the nines and the table minimums at these tables are in most cases pretty high. As many as 14 players may play at a real live baccarat table, which is similar in size to a craps table. There are three casino dealers that handle each table. The players may choose to bet on the banker or the player, including the player that is dealing, however it is usual for the dealer to bet on the banker.

Similar to the way the dice rotate around the craps table the deal rotates around the baccarat table. A player does not have to deal and if they choose not to then they can simply pass the shoe to the player beside them. As long as the banker is winning the same person must continue dealing. The dealer will place two cards face down on the table. The player will then look at the cards and then hand them back to the dealer. Then the player/dealer will turn the cards over and the casino dealer will shout out the totals. Depending on what these totals are the dealer may then tell the player dealer to deal an additional card. At the end the dealer will collect money from the losers and payout the winners. The player who deals the cards does not have a financial responsibility to any of the other players and his job is to simply turn the cards over.

Another version is mini baccarat and the rules are the same as regular baccarat. The only difference is the table is smaller and the games goes much faster because the cards are all turned over by the dealer. The odds of mini baccarat are the same as playing big table baccarat as long as the same number of decks are used. Sometimes the odds are affected somewhat when the game is dealt from a six deck shoe. This game is not as much for high rollers as the traditional baccarat is and in most cases you will find it in the main area of the casino with the rest of the other casino games.

Yet another version is midi baccarat. This version is exactly the same as mini baccarat except for the fact that the table is bigger. This version is usually find in the high roller area unlike the mini baccarat that is played by the commoners on the casino floor.
